This is a car I bought from an auction lot without even driving it. I know what you're thinking... IDIOT! ... and you're somewhat right, I had some serious problems right out of the gate. I noticed right away it wasn't shifting right, it wasn't leaving 2nd gear. So I went to Advanced Auto and had them run the diagnostic computer on my Caddie. It was throwing codes for the transmission soleniods. I was thinking that was gonna be an easy fix, but low and behold... It's a Cadillac!
Okay so a wheel hub and an oil change later, I decide to take The Lac down to Certified Transmission where I learned that my tranny has coolant in the trans case. How did this happen? Well, apparently my car has a cooler for the tranny inside the radiator, at least I think thats how it was explained. Anyway, the coolant was looking like a thick strawberry shake, and now its time to replace the transmission.
So I found what I thought was a pretty good deal on a used tranny at a local junkyard. Total came to about $450 with a 6 month warranty. Only 50,000 miles on it. So I grabbed it up and had it put in, and the car has been running great ever since. About $1400 in labor including a new radiator and all the fluids, hoses, and lines etc...
